Privacy – and the invasion of privacy – is big business. There are companies that collect and disseminate information about you to advertisers, and there are companies that distribute software and utilities designed to prevent other companies from collecting information about you.  BindleSnitch is an advertising supported website. We use the net proceeds from our advertising campaigns to pay our contributors. We have no shareholders so we don’t have pay dividends. This means that the net profit after operating and overhead costs goes directly to the writers themselves.

In a perfect world, there would be no advertising on the internet but, today, without advertising, there would be no internet as we know it…but there are rules that good internet citizens abide by to reduce the impact of these intrusions.

  1. Your information is 100% confidential at BindleSnitch. We ourselves do not collect, buy, sell, exchange, trade, contribute, donate, or provide your private information to anyone, ever, under any circumstances.
  2. However, you should know that third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to your website.
  3. Google’s use of their Double-Click cookie enables it and its partners to customize the advertising you see on our pages based on your visits to our site and to other sites on the internet.
  4. You can opt out of the DoubleClick cookie for interest-based advertising by visiting Ad Settings.You can also visit aboutads.info to learn how you can opt out of other third-party vendors’ use of cookies for interest based advertising.
  5. You should be aware that there are other third-party vendors and ad networks that customize the advertising on our website, unless you opt out of that program.
  6. If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to customize the advertising you see on our website.
  7. On each advertisement that appears on our website, there should be a link that will enable you to opt out of the use of cookies for interest-based advertising.

At the bottom of each page on BindleSnitch, there is a footer where you can report a bug, report non-compliant BindleSnitch advertising, change your Amazon ad preferences, or address problems with Google Ads.  Note that the Amazon and Google utilities may or may not change your preferences on other websites.
