A Question About An Inverse Reading of Trump’s Numbers
Since his vehemently racist attack of Congresswomen of color;
Since his pathetically inadequate reaction and response to the shootings in El Paso and Dayton;
Since his use of overtly racist campaign rhetoric at political gatherings:
A new poll from NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist shows Trump reaching a “new high” in his approval ratings of 44%. The same poll shows most registered voters in America — 52% — disapprove of the job Trump is doing.
So here’s the question:
Does that mean that well over 30% of the population of this country, more than 100 million people, are racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic, white supremacist, white nationalist bigots?

We knew that from the ’16 vote percentages, Ron, bc the idea that his voters were largely motivated by economics was and remains nonsense.

My point here is that the Dems shouldn’t waste time and resources trying to convince these ‘deplorables’ to change their minds…Because they won’t…
The Dems should go full throttle after the remaining 2/3 of the population…Which is about 60% of the voters…
Write the bigots off and contain/restrain them after the 2020 election…
If the Dems place too much emphasis on Trump and his base of supporters and followers, we lose…
Losing is not an option…

Sadly, yes.

I agree…

You listed a percentage of voters, not people in general. This view is less prevalent among the young.
Does this mean….? Really, yes., Not what I would have initially answered. Even if these people don’t think they’re malevolent, the fact remains that they believe minorities are less deserving of consideration than they are, and I think that qualifies.

In my estimation, 40/45% of voters is equal to roughly 30% of the general population.
