Mr. Epstein, the financier charged with the sex trafficking of minors, had marks on his neck. The incident was being investigated as a possible assault or suicide attempt.

Three possible stories, my guess is in ascending order of probability:
1. Murder.
2. Suicide with someone paid off to look the other way. After all, he was a billionaire and, even if his money wasn’t used, there are enough people who want the embarrassment to go away who are probably squeamish about murder but who talked themselves into believing they were doing the guy a favor by helping him commit suicide and they were killing two birds with one stone.
3. Suicide, insane incompetence at the NYC jail.
I could easily see one guy forgetting to tell the next that this prisoner had recently attempted suicide. He’s kind of high profile for a mistake like that but it’s still possible.
Maybe we’ll find out which. Maybe we won’t.

2. The obvious and easy explanation…Much too obvious and much too easy…
3. He was on suicide watch and someone had to take him off of suicide watch intentionally…There’s a chain of command and a paper trail…
If this was murder, the top suspects should be the folks who took Epstein off of 24/7 suicide watch…
Too easily detected and determined as conspiratorial murder mysteries go….
