Allegedly Neglected White Marginals & the Liberals Who Love Them
I am so bloody weary of liberals assigning to them nobility and guilt to themselves…to these largely proudly racist, even more proudly under-educated people who reflexively view Science and Reading with dark suspicion, who can barely be bothered with sustained engagement in the public square unless and until they see in a local or national candidate the authoritarianism to which they’re addicted and in whom they recognise every possible anti-humanitarian, anti-democratic rabies-driven mutt-whistle.

There are some strange things happening on your posts. On more than one occasion, I have seen this snippet in your headlines: &
The amp; is the html code FOR the ampersand and should not appear in a headline. If you take out the amp; the & will still appear. This usually happens if you are copying the headline from somewhere else.
Please check your headlines and make sure there is no HTML code in your titles.
Ps: Can I implore you to please use the name we all know you by….I really hate one word pen names, so says the former sagemerlin.
PPS Maybe we should set up some real pen names for you so that the site doesn’t look like jonathon wolf… or whatever???

I have not copied/pasted my titles so I am not aware of what’s causing the glitch you mention.

I have used ampersands in titles to save space but I will not use them going forward.

I don’t think the ampersands are a problem. I personally don’t like any punctuation in headlines but I don’t think the world cares any more.

I think the “& thing” is a system glitch. I haven’t copied and pasted any posts and yet if I use the “&” I have seen that same html text in preview mode (I preview my posts) causing me to remove the “&” and use “and” instead.

Robert is off for the holiday. I will have him look at this again when he returns Monday.

I don’t paste my headlines, I type them. They’re too short to bother copying.
Why are you so worried about one word screen names? The name everyone here knows me by is koshersalaami. A few people know me by my real name, some by my real first name only. I could switch to my real name but if I do there are personal stories I’ll have to steer clear of.

The idea is to grow this thing as soon as we have finished ironing out the kinks in the system and we have some interesting plans to do that. That’s one of the reasons that I set up the @salon page so that OS people would have a gathering place.
I am also reacting to several models that I refer to on a regular basis.. The original OS model. Facebook, Twitter, Medium, and others. I use them as a check and balance. Don’t want to imitate, do want to emulate.
I understand why people sometimes want – and need – the cover of a pseudonym so we’re not going to require anyone to use their real names or even a pen name.
I have written under so many names that I have literally lost track of them. Every now and then I come across something that seems very familiar. I would sometimes suspect that I was being plagiarized but, with a few notable exceptions, I had actually written the piece under a different name and then forgotten all about it over the years.
The essence of this whole idea is to give contributors as much freedom as possible within the constraints of layout and design factors that require a certain amount of consistency.
I am also trying very hard to separate my persona as a contributor from my managerial functions. I want to be as much of a contributor as anyone else, but I am always conscience that I have to hold myself to a higher standard because some people will riff off what I am doing from time to time.
One example where I am failing in that function is the editor’s picks section which has way too many of my articles on it. (There really shouldn’t be any at all with my name on them)
That’s why I am trying to figure out how to implement a member’s choice section with the contributors will get to nominate one article per day to be elevated to that section. Very hard to automate that, but I am trying.

A reason I decided to be here, after some thought, was to present my work to a broader audience, broader than OS/OS, as an augmentation to my ‘Passionate Justice’ podcast at http://www.glickmandigitalmedia.com . So, for now, i’m less interested in posting under BS’s OS banner than I am in reaching a general readership.
This leads me to a question: Am I permitted, here, to post my weekly podcast shows? (…ongoing episodes, not past ones…)

I was politely waiting for you to ask. I didn’t want to seem too pushy. The basic process is the same as inserting an image into the text of your article. Start a new post. Insert Headline, etc. When everything else is ready, position your cursor where you want to insert the video, click on add media. When the media screen comes up, click on upload file, find the file, make sure you name it so that it matches the name of the article, and insert the video into the post.
I tested this with you in mind some months ago but I haven’t done it recently, so you’re going to be the test case for this function.
I would like to request that you expand your excerpts to around ten to 15 words to fill out the two lines in the summary. It would also be a good idea to add some text to the post, perhaps a sentence or two summarizing the clip.
It gladdened me to read that you want to broaden your reach because that is precisely what Bindle is all about. I’ve been working toward this point for more than four years, much of it on a steep learning curve. The fact that Lorianne decided to shut down just as I was getting ready to roll out the site is a good omen as far as I am concerned.
You should all know by now that I am personally pledged to insure that THIS site isn’t going disappear. Even if it never makes a cent, I will keep it going and when I can’t do it any more, I have other people ready to step in and take over on the same terms. Eventually, I would like to transition into a collectively owned and managed operation. We’re not there yet but my plan is to set up an S corp, which allows us to have up to 100 co-owners. Expansion beyond that will require some Yiddishkeit, but I am after all a pintelleh yid.
I will be writing some articles about how to increase our collective presence online. Watch for them.

I see I am now known by my name here and as I say, ok w me.
As to posting my show announcements here as posts (1x/wk) what do you think?
07/03/2019 @ 1:25 pm
Well, how often do you do your show? I think freshness is more important than frequency. The fresher the better. No one is being forced to watch.
