And, Stupid People Shall “Inherit The Wind”
If there are vastly more stupid people in the world than non-stupid or intelligent people, either ‘god’ or evolution has made a huge mistake:
Proverbs 11:29: He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart.

No, it’s a cold and it’s a very broken hallelujah {…}

jpH,
hallelujah;
an utterance of the word “hallelujah” as an expression of worship or rejoicing.
Oxford Dictionary
The idea that there are vastly more stupid people in the world isn’t much cause for celebration, unless you’re in the business of selling snake oil and/or conspiracy theories.
“Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.”

Ron, Leonard Cohen you’re not. Readers who embrace optimism might indulge with the ‘Ten Top Commencement Speeches Ever’ which includes Steve Jobs’ Stanford Address, 2005. To ‘broad brush’ the aggregate of Americans as ‘stupid’ is intellectually usurious, dystopian and adamantly tarnishes the relentless sacrifice of the many here among us who fight tyranny and fascism. Go now to Flanders Field and Arlington National Cemetery. Please be alert for the walking wounded. I shall send a modest sum to the Paralyzed Veterans of America in recognition of our continued brotherhood and heavenly cause {…} TY for your time.

jpH,
Re Leonard Cohen: happily and thankfully I wholeheartedly agree.
I’d much rather get caught in my desire to emulate and imitate Erroll Garner.
That I’m not Leonard Cohen, thanks for your apt observation….
Re the broad brush of stupidity:
“NEVER ARGUE WITH STUPID PEOPLE. THEY WILL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.”
—–Mark Twain
The Mencken quote and a myriad of others are examples of the expressions one might assemble on the question or subject of the universality of stupidity…
Take another look at Bitey’s last post,’On Stupidity’.

You are good at what you do. I run that last distant mile, preoccupied with snafu. JD Salinger had his ducks, yet the penguins at task; aphoristic, so kind: no atheists in a fox hole {…} obviously time to flee this sentence {…} maybe glint that SOS with the high noon sun: paper bag off the flask.

jpH;
If I’m good at what I do, it’s because I’m constantly and continuously challenged to be so.
“I run that last distant mile, preoccupied with snafu.”
I thought you might appreciate a spot of Rudyard Kipling right here:
“If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it…”

‘“Leonard Cohen you’re not.” Such unexpectedly Jewish syntax.

Kosh — I’m tempted to quip Allen Ginsburg’s HOWL but Student and me are hunkered down in an unlit wayside not far from Barneveld, WI. Fluting flyin’ fish did it hail! Earlier, as twilight faded we’d a sharp eye for that filmic airborne mad bull but darkest night got in the way. Relentless guttural lightning!
