FACT: You CAN Vote By Mail in ALL 50 States
There is a movement afoot to pass laws to require voting by mail in federal elections. The people who are promoting this legislation are either stupid or ill-informed because voting by mail is an accomplished fact in ALL 50 states right now.
It’s called an absentee ballot…and they are available for the asking from your local Election Commission.
Five states already have vote-by-mail-only elections: Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Three of these state are solidly Democratic. Washington leans Democratic. Utah is solidly Republican.
Twenty-eight states allow “no excuse” absentee balloting which means that you don’t have to give a reason for requesting and using an absentee ballot. You can look them up yourself here.
Seventeen states require that you give a reason for needing an absentee ballot. The reason could be as simple as, “I am going to be out of town on election day” because no one is going to check. My favorite reason: “I need an absentee ballot because I decided that I didn’t want to become infected with the Republican Coronavirus while I am casting my ballot for the Democratic nominee,” but I don’t recommend this reason if you live in a Republican state.
Attempts to pass a national vote by mail law are simply unnecessary and distract us, once again, from the process of evicting the Republican party from the White House and from Congress, which is absolutely necessary for the survival of the nation and the planet.
I surmise that the people who are jumping on this bandwagon just need something new to complain about but why not complain about something that actually makes sense to complain about, like, the presence of an obese idiot in the Oval Office who is pretending to be the president of the United States, and doing a very poor job of it.
What about the possibility that Republican states will simply change the laws to prevent voting by mail?
This is not a problem. Almost all of those states were going to vote for Trunp anyway…if there is anyone left alive to vote there by November.

The key word here is ‘require’….
If voting by mail in Federal elections is ‘required’ by federal law, the thinking is that the role of state authorities and officials in determining who gets to vote and who doesn’t, and whose votes are counted and whose aren’t, will be diminished, if not eliminated altogether…
In my view, the jury is still out re the efficacy of a federally mandated requirement to vote by mail…

There is the matter of the reason. I believe in some states lying about the reason is perjury. It is technically illegal for me to vote by absentee ballot here if I’m home and healthy.
