WRITERS WANTED – INQUIRE WITHIN
WHAT’S A BINDLESNITCH?
BindleSnitch is a collectively-owned, cooperatively managed media platform designed to publish and promote original, member-created content. Think Facebook without Zuckerberg, Twitter without Trump, Medium without the clickbait…a place where the members are the owners and the owners really control the content. There’s even a members-only social media platform for private communications. This is a one hundred percent real ground-floor opportunity where you can become a co-owner of the whole enterprise on the basis of your sweat equity alone. Early birds get worms.
HOW YOU EARN MONEY ON BINDLESNITCH
Right now, BindleSnitch isn’t earning anything because we don’t have enough traffic but, hey, you’ve been posting stuff on Facebook, Twitter, etc. for years without getting paid for your work. When we have revenues, we will publish a monthly cash-flow report that will document the gross receipts and the net profit after itemized operating and overhead costs have been deducted. We will then divide the net profits by the total number of views the site earned during that month to determine the pay-per-view rate. We multiply the total number of views your articles have received during that month by the pay-per-view rate to determine your compensation. You will be paid as a 1099 Independent Contractor.
A BOOTSTRAP PROJECT
We have not accepted – and will not accept – any funding from the venture vultures and therefore we have no investors sticking their beaks into the jar. Because we are organized as a partnership, rather than a corporation, we are not obligated to pay dividends to shareholders. This means that there aren’t any freeloaders who get paid without working to earn their due. Our goal is to pay good writers well enough to keep them writing but we can only do that if we are generating revenue and we can only generate advertising revenue if we have enough traffic to generate that revenue.
THE RATIONALE BEHIND THE MODEL
By combining your creative output of articles with the output from other members of the BindleSnitch community, you cross-pollinate your audiences. Your followers see their articles, and their followers see yours. This only works if you do your part, which includes reading and commenting on each other’s articles, posting links to your articles on social media, posting links to each other’s articles on social media, and using your personal mailing lists to promote your work and the website. The result will be a constantly expanding audience of readers. It also means that visitors spend more time on the site and that also increases advertising revenues.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE WEBSITE
BindleSnitch is designed to promote your work by getting more reads for your articles. We do this by offering readers an interactive environment that is easy to understand and use. The home page has two columns. The left column on the home page lists the most recent articles. The right column lists the most popular articles, the most recent editor’s picks, a grab bag of random choices that changes whenever you reload the home page, and a summary of the most recent comments. When articles roll off the home page, they are stored in the archives, but they are also stored in one of the 12 major content categories, which can all be viewed either chronologically or alphabetically.
A PUBLIC PLATFORM
Unlike Facebook or Twitter, you don’t have to be a member of BindleSnitch to read our content. This means that contributors can promote their articles to their personal followings without them having to join BindleSnitch if they don’t want to.
AN OPEN FORUM
Articles are published in real-time without editorial review. We do have a system under which members can challenge articles that do not live up to our community standards. Members who choose to do so can vote on questionable articles to determine whether they should be removed.
You cannot insert hyperlinks to import someone else’s articles into BindleSnitch. We are only interested in publishing original content. (You can insert hyperlinks into your articles but you cannot simply post a link and create an article the way you can on Facebook. We think that’s very stupid.)
The entire BindleSnitch website is copy protected so that no one can easily plagiarise your articles or steal your original artwork simply by copying and pasting from our site. This works by blocking the pop-up menu on our pages. [Note: Copy protection is currently turned off.)
FREE TO POST – FREE TO READ
There are no membership fees, no paywalls, no extra charges to get access to “premium” content. It’s also a “free-for-all” because there is very little editorial supervision…unless you step over the line, at which point the members may vote to turn you off for a while. (Don’t worry. If you have revenue coming to you, you will continue to get it.)
EVERYONE SEES EVERYTHING
On BindleSnitch, everyone sees everything, which means that the readers can choose what they read instead of having content spoon-fed to them. If you don’t want to read an article, just skip it and go on to the next one. As new articles appear the ones you don’t want to see will disappear into the archives automatically. If you are offended by an article, you can raise the issue with the author of the article but, if it is abusive or legally objectionable, there is a process for challenging inappropriate content that really works because there are real people managing it.WHY OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES DIVIDE THEIR CONTENT
SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL
At BindleSnitch, we plan to limit the number of contributors – not readers – to no more than 1,000 contributors because we believe that’s all the content that our model can handle. (The New York Times has 1,600 editorial employees. We don’t want to get that big.) Millions can come and read what you’ve written, and anyone can join the discussion and contribute comments, but only certified members can post articles. Once we reach that level, we plan to close the membership – but not the readership – and allow new members in only when attrition creates vacancies in our table of organization. New members will be recruited to fill vacancies from the ranks of those who submit comments regularly. (When the revenue starts coming in, you will be paid for comments as well as posts.)
YOU OWN THE COPYRIGHTS ON WHAT YOU WRITE
BindleSnitch is copyrighted on a daily basis but we do that to protect your copyright, not to take it away from you. You are free to republish anything you have published on BindleSnitch, but we do ask that you credit BindleSnitch as the original publisher of the article. We want you to post links to your BindleSnitch articles on your social media accounts.
HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO
At BindleSnitch, you can have your cake and eat it too by posting links to the stuff you are putting on BindleSnitch on your social media accounts, which helps generate more traffic for your articles on BindleSnitch
