When Sovereign Nations Must Cede Prerogatives to the World
There are times when a sovereign nation’s prerogatives must sway to the needs of our collective community. This, given the Amazon’s production of twenty-percent of our oxygen, seems to be such a moment. It is why we have a United Nations. When used judiciously and absent ideological grandstanding, that body has been effective. The Security Council and then the General Assembly must meet (with Brasil included and in consultation with climate and other scientists), push past this era of narrow retrenchment and isolationism, and not cave until we see further effective joint action.

Isolationism is a disease.

Jon, can you really explain to me why you keep reposting stuff that you have written on Bindlesnitch instead of simply posting the link to BindleSnitch? I just do not understand your thinking about this. I do it too sometimes, but I usually copy the article to Bindlesnitch, then poist it to facebook after I remove the original.
