OPEN CALL FOR ALL SALONERS: UPDATE 1
Regardless of whether you are coming from Open Salon, Our Salon, Orphans of Open Salon, or some other venue for former OS members, Your Salon is a place where you can continue to have the same supportive, fractious, contentious, and mutually supporting conversations that made Open Salon unique.
It has been my observation that wherever Open Saloners have gone since they shut us down in 2014, we have taken the same mutually supportive attitude with us wherever we have gone.
How To Use BindleSnitch To Mirror Open/Our/Salon
- USE THE COMMENTS SECTION ON THIS POST to start and continue open conversations by introducing topics, and posting replies within this post. In operation, this will work in much the same way that FaceBook posts operate.
- USE THE POSTING SYSTEM for longer articles of at least 500 words. You can post articles here by using the *Salon category. (If you use the *Salon category, however, your posts will ONLY appear here on the Your Salon page. )
- You can keep track of what your cohorts are doing on BindleSnitch by referring to the MEMBERS SECTION.
Someone just told me there are only around a half a dozen people left on Our Salon, which may be why Lorianne decided to pull the pin….but I want to seek what happens. If you build it, I hear, they will come.

LATEST UPDATE: A big piece of the puzzle has been fixed. You can now access the contributor’s profiles whereas before that was not working. This gives you access to the back end of the system which does a lot of the things that are handled on the Front End in Lorianne’s system.
Here’s a summary of what you can do now:
1 Once you have signed up, you can post items to the salon page on bindlesnitch which will act very much like the Home Page here at Our Salon.: The differences are that I cannot list recent comments for OS people. Recent comments will be pulled from all of the posts on Bindle, not just those going to Your Salon articles. I am still trying to figure that one out.
2. When you go to the Your Salon page, you will see the most recent posts and the most popular ones. Since popularity is determined by the number of comments, the most commented articles will be at the topof the most popular posts. Therefore, clicking on any of the most popular posts will give you access to the articles where the most conversations are going on.
3. If you want to see your own article listed separately, you woold go to MEMBERS>MY PROFILE, where you will now have access to all of your own articles,. the comments you have made, Messages you have sent or received, your photo galler, listings of your friends and followers, and a link to the BindleSnitch groups that you have joined.
4. If you want to see anyone else’s profile, in order to find an article or a comment, or send or receive messages. simply go to YOUR PROFILE and then click on Directory. This will open up a listing of everyone who has joined Bindle. Simply click on any other person’s profile and you will be forwarded to their profile.
I know this sound way the fuck too complicated but in actual practice, it turns out to be very easy….and if it isn’t, I will fix it.

Except YOUR profile, which takes us to the home page. 😛
Oh by the way, you REALLY need to edit for spelling and grammar my friend. “woold” and “galler” … *Shakes her head as she gives Alan shit*

Where are these alleged errors? I use the term alleged ill advisedly because I ma sure they are there, but I don’t know where.

LOL… I put them in quotes so you could find them. Point number 3 is the location of both.

When I click on my name on the Members list, I go to my profile. I wouldn’t have any way of knowing that when someone else does this they go to the home page.

That’s why I told ya. You aren’t going to locate all the little bugs if someone doesn’t tell you about them. Don’t care how “good” someone is they cannot locate every bug alone.

Bindlesnitch wasn’t quite ready when I learned that OS was closing down. I rushed it a little bit to give OS members a place to go.
Of course, you already have places to go. Bindle is just another alternative with some bells and whistles added…and with some glitches that need to be ironed out.
There are more than 75 plugins currently installed on the website. That’s a lot of stuff to keep track of, but there are usually answers for everything.
Your feedback is very important. We can no longer see the trees for the forest. That’s what happens somewhere in the development curve for every project I’ve ever been involved with.
I am very aware of the fact that OS is going to shut down in NINE days. I wish that were not true, but that is the case. After that, we won’t be able to have these conversations.
1. You tried to post again. It disappeared.
No, it didn’t. I found your post. It was stuck in drafts because it did not have a title, tags, an excerpt, or a featured image, along with a bunch of other stuff that is recommended by not required.
You can find this post again by going the member section on the main menu and selecting NEW POST. When you do this, you will see a link labeled “ALL POSTS” in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. When you click on this link, you will get a list of your articles. You can now open this lost article and work on it if you want.
2. Work Flow
We added a checklist section in the upper right-hand corner of the screen listing all of the things you need to know in order to complete a submission. Maybe that list was too ambitious. I was trying to provide a road map of best practices. I am revising the checklist to make several of the checkpoints optional instead of mandatory.
3. Categories
Our system only allows you to post in one category at a time. Articles will appear on the Home Pages, the Summary Pages and ONE category page…except for the Salon category. As part of this experiment, we gave OS people a private page. Because it is a private page, articles posted to the salon category will not appear on the home pages, etc. I have now thrown some switches, and anything posted to the Salon Category will now appear on the home page AND on the Salon page. However, Salon articles will not appear in the category pages.
4. The Home page
The home page hasn’t changed very much in months because we have been working on the design not the content. Hopefully, that’s about to change. Hopefully, that will be changing now.

And I MAY well take up my pen again. *Sigh* Not sure people really WANT to hear about the fun you can have designing and building stuffed animals though. 😀

How do I delete a draft?
