If you cannot find the excerpt box, you can turn it on by going to the Screen Options tab at the top right hand corner of the screen, right under your screen name.
Open the Screen Options and make sure the Excerpts is checked off. If it is not checked off, click on the box to turn it on. You should only have to do this once. Note that all of the options in the Screen Options Box must be turned on in order for the system to operate properly.
Also note that the Excerpt box may pop up in the right hand column or underneath the text entry window, so look for it in both places.

Okay, Rose, I decided to give you a little push by publishing this article for you. The reason that you couldn’t publish it before was that you hadn’t inserted the excerpt. The excerpt is used to create the blurb that appears under your featured image when you are articles are posted on the website. I would like at least two or three lines of copy, but that is up to you. For very short posts, the whole post could be inserted into the excerpt.
Here’s how you do it: Make sure that you are not in full-screen mode. If you see the black bar on the left side of the screen and you can see the sidebar on the right side, then you are not in full-screen mode.
Scroll down to the bottom of the data entry section, Immediately below that, you should see a box labeled “Excerpt.” You have to insert something, anything (but nothing obscene, profane or Trumpian) and then the system will let you publish your article.
Hope you don’t mind that I stepped in. Hate to see people getting frustrated.

I just made a post too…the platform isn’t super user friendly. I used to blog at WordPress many years ago, and some of that came back to me. The excerpt was the hardest thing for me to figure out too because I didn’t know what excerpt meant in this context. Your painting looks lovely up there though!

Thanks! It’s a sequence of things…I think I’ve been too spoiled by WYSIWYG platforms. This is not as bad as WordPress used to be, but it’s not real easy, either.

Hey, yeah, Kosh (long ago) got me to join…but when I peeked in I saw MY NEMESIS, so stood back. Recently Alan ‘threatened’ to toss me as inactive. Since MY NEMESIS has gone, and missing a blog place, I reactivated. Alan very helpful in getting a post up (yeah [sorry, Alan] not super user-friendly, but once you catch onto it it’s okay.

No nemeses here at the moment. I’m glad about that. Don’t know if I would have tried coming in again if they were here. (I tried about a year ago and gave up)
You caught that bit about white, didn’t you? White is really fun for me, because hardly any of this is actually pure white. There are lots of light grays and blues. The brightest “white” parts are actually technically yellow or very pale blue-green. The contrast makes the illusion. And that’s really what it’s all about.

I tolerated her because I didn’t think it was my place to be a policeman. However, this system is set up so that you can block anyone you don’t want to interact with by simply clicking on the edit button attached to the offensive comment and marking it as spam. I think the system automatically blocks that user but only from your thread. If necessary, I will throw the obnoxious overboard if they try to come aboard.
