For Want of a President…
For want of the Defense Production Act, a swab was lost
For want of a swab, the test was lost
For want of a test, the nurse was lost
For want of a nurse, the city was lost
For want of a city, the economy was lost
For want of an economy, the peace was lost
For want of peace, democracy was lost
For want of democracy, the freedom was lost
For want of freedom, the country was lost.

If this were set to music, it would sound like one of Bach’s fugues or , perhaps the best known jazz fugue, “Blue Rondo a la Turk”, by Dave Brubeck…
And, as with these classics, quite interesting , and worth hearing again and again….

That is a delightful observation, RP.

Huh? Blue Rondo a la Turk a fugue? I wouldn’t characterize it that way at all. Not to knock either Blue Rondo or fugues, both of which I appreciate greatly and both of which I’m reasonably knowledgeable about. Sorry for the tangent.

Kosh; Of course you’re right to an extent..
.
I was referring to the opening ‘movement’ and the interludes which return to the opening bars…
To me, Brubeck’s composition is a unique interposition
of fugue and blues progression…
That’s my interpretation. which, I’m sure, has some flaws…
