Go Back to Where You Came From
I doubt anyone here has ever had the invective, “go back where you came from”, thrown at them in a hateful and contemptuous manner purely, simply, and solely because of the color of their skin…
I can tell you that for a kid in the school yard, or classroom, playground, or lunch room, there is only one thing that is as hurtful and damaging as being told you don’t belong….
If you can’t figure out what that might be, you are part of the problem and light years away from becoming part of the solution…

Actually, as a fairly dark skinned Sicilian I have had people tell me to “go back where I came from”. The white “gentry” of Illinois doesn’t waste a whole lot of love on the Italian population. Certainly, Blacks get it worse, but most Italians rate about the same as undocumented Hispanics. I’ll also see you and go all in on the “hateful and contemptuous” part. Been there, doing that and got a closet full of the tee shirts.
(what I’m trying to say is that “I get what you’re saying because I live it.)
