If you see something that isn’t right…….
If you haven’t gotten into ‘good trouble’ somewhere along the line, either you’re not fighting hard enough, or you’re not fighting at all…

You will notice that the sizes of the images on the left hand column of the home page have been increased.
This was made necessary by a formatting problem on the mobile version of the website. At the former size of the featured images, the headlines were wrapping around the featured image, which trashed the home page design on mobile platforms. That has now been corrected by increasing the size of the featured image.
We will be increasing the number of items in the sidebar to compensate.
If you cannot find the excerpt box, you can turn it on by going to the Screen Options tab at the top right hand corner of the screen, right under your screen name.
Open the Screen Options and make sure the Excerpts is checked off. If it is not checked off, click on the box to turn it on. You should only have to do this once. Note that all of the options in the Screen Options Box must be turned on in order for the system to operate properly.
Also note that the Excerpt box may pop up in the right hand column or underneath the text entry window, so look for it in both places.
Headlines must be 44-68 characters including spaces.
Use Headline Case
Do not begin headlines with punctuation marks, other symbols, or numerals

This was a man who grew up preaching. This is a man who referenced Jesus in this speech. This is a man who used the term Chosen knowing exactly what he was echoing.
This is a man who believed in God.
This is a man who believed in accepting responsibility, who believed that you had to contribute to solutions rather than problems, who believed in fixing things himself.
“ The blame for the suffering and hardship that must be endured, if not overcome, is placed squarely where they believe it belongs: other people…”
Does that sound like a description of John Lewis? It’s your description of people who believe in God.

John Lewis was an exceptional individual re the notion that actions speak louder than words….
He insisted, as I do that, where racism is concerned, it is simply not enough to be a passive. “non-racist”, but an active antiracist…
If we see or experience something that is wrong or unjust we have a moral obligation to speak up, speak out, and DO something.
I’m surprised that you would attempt to deflect or change the subject here by bringing up my assertion that people who “believe in god” tend to blame everyone and everything but “God” for the adversities that befall them…
John Lewis didn’t blame God for racism. He felt morally compelled to take action against those he believed were the perpetrators and perpetuaters of the racism against which he fought by getting into ‘good trouble’…
Your response here suggests that you don’t or won’t get into ‘good trouble’ despite your belief in god…
Your belief in god and failure to act does not comport with John Lewis’s articulation of what he believed to be THE moral imperative to act in the face of racial injustice that is witnessed or experienced.

I think you have my point backward. I’m not knocking John Lewis at al; I’m actually defending him. I’m knocking your assertions about people with faith. I am absolutely not advocating passivity.

I don’t have your point wrong at all.
My problem with your point is that it is not responsive to the point of this post….
“I’m surprised that you would attempt to deflect or change the subject here by bringing up my assertion that people who “believe in god” tend to blame everyone and everything but “God”…”
My problem is what you seem to try to use as a way to deflect attention from the fact that you have spent a good deal of time, effort, and energy in avoiding even the appearance of getting into ‘good trouble’ for fear of offending clients and potential customers who don’t share your perspectives or point of view re matters involving race and social justice…
Your continued and continuing use of a screen name and pseudonym speak testimonial volumes in this regard…
Whether you or Lewis believe in god or not is argumentative, irrelevant, and immaterial re the moral obligation and imperative to speak up, speak out, and DO SOMETHING in the name of social justice….
Going to church or synagogue and praying to God for justice was not at the top of Lewis’s list of priorities….
