At The Junction of Historical Irony and Historical Fact

‍Looking at the electoral map and the history of statehood of the Midwestern, ‘rust belt’, states in reverse chronological order, one might notice that when overlaid and juxtaposed against the topographical maps of the routes of the underground railroad, there is a strangely coincidental, nearly eerie, and ironic, historical fact:

The states that were the terminal points of thousands upon thousands of black  people escaping slavery during the 1800s,  are the very states that will be the deciding factor in the country’s attempt to escape from Trump….

Wisconsin:
Admitted to the Union May 29, 1848 (30th)

10 electoral votes

Michigan:
Admitted to the Union January 26, 1837 (26th)

16 electoral votes

Illinois:
Admitted to the Union December 3, 1818 (21st)

20 electoral votes

Ohio:
Admitted to the Union March 1, 1803(17th)
(declared retroactively on August 7, 1953)

18 electoral votes

Pennsylvania:
Admitted to the Union December 12, 1787 (2nd)

20 electoral votes

The Underground Railroad States are the swing states where 70% of the popular vote is: Women; People of color; Young Adults 18-35….

There are a total of 84 electoral votes among these states.

Trump received 304 electoral votes and Clinton garnered 227 ( a margin of 77 electoral college votes) as two faithless electors defected from Trump and five defected from Clinton. Trump is the fifth person in U.S. history to become president while losing the nationwide popular vote.
