HOLY COW – LIKE WOW – & WHAT NOW?
I was casually watching the electoral college thing while doing other stuff. Must have left the room for a bit – gone to the bathroom or something. And suddenly on the TV there are crazies in animal skins rushing thru the Capitol, waving confed flags and shrieking like maniacs.
My daughter next door slept in. Got up, did her morning stuff, got settled in her chair, opened her tablet and – WHAT?! WHAT?!
OTOH, as I am reading now, this was all planned in the open. And no one took it seriously? Capitol police (glorified security guards, or whatever you call those guys in office lobbies, seems like) were left for a couple of hours to fend off screaming crazies…crazies with blessedly fewer guns than one might expect in an American riot… And tr-mp exhorting the troops ahead of time, telling them (lying to them) that he’d be marching right along with them…
In an alternative universe, even worse than this one, a whole lot of the senate got massacred and P-nce was drug out and publicly hung on a gallows conveniently ready out front… and then tr-mp marched in and put on his crown and…
I MEAN, W.T.F.!!!!!
In a way, it was cool for proceedings to resume afterwards and senators to continue with the electoral college thing. But NOT COOL for certain of the senators to get up and vote NAY and blither on with their blither. (Does my heart good to read that H-wl-y and Cr-z are getting denounced, calls for their resignation or expulsion…not so happy to read suggestions that Cr-z get sent back whence he came…WE IN CANADA ARE NOT LETTING DISEASED AMERICANS ACROSS THE BORDER.) (Or much of anybody.)
Now, a little late but whatever, there’s possibility of tr-mp being twenty-fived or impeached again.

Haha, and now there are calls for “moving on” and “re-uniting”… I say (a) nonsense, or (b) at least wait and see if Biden survives the inauguration. Like, there are plans out in the open for that occasion too…
(Meantime, amusing to see some of those nitwits who filmed themselves and celebrated afterwards and unmolestedly flew home now being rounded up. Didn’t realize that for all the noise and both-open&surreptitious support, they’re still outnumbered?)

The gut with animal horns and painted face was one of the first to be arrested by the FBI….
They caught up with him and a couple of his friends in Arizona….
It’s anyone’s guess how far and widespread the thousands of seditionists and insurrectionists have gotten….
Back under their rocks, rat and rabbit holes for sure, but not in hiding. They’ve just gone home to brag and boast about what they’ve done and conspire about what they may yet do….
These societal vermin aren’t finished and won’t be unless they and their cause are somehow exterminated….

Every culture has ’em, they’re part of the human spectrum – the cruel, the crazy, the chaotic. Tended to dominate thru much of human history, or at least getting most of the headlines while sub rosa the technicians worked away on agriculture, cuisine, building, medicine, the arts, etc. In recent times our Better Angels made themselves heard and society transformed (the peasants revolted) to allow freedom, security, progress etc. for all/most. The USA has prided itself (loudly) as being in the forefront of this…but has a deep, wide allegiance to the dark side…due to its history with dark-skinned people. And (part of the horrible aspect of humanity) exacerbated by wilful ignorance and ridiculous religion. I was out walking all afternoon, when I got home, made tea and spent an hour reading, then turned on the news to find Judy,Yamiche, Amna and Lisa reporting like we were at war. I called my friend and we watched it together. It felt like what we did during 9/11.
Her hubby is a real politico and sent me pix of the zip tie guys, who were in a different league than the costumed people. They wore military style vests, carried guns, and were the first ones in as the windows were broken. They clearly had much darker plans than to steal Nancy Pelosi’s lecturn. If they’d broken in an hour earlier they would have had access to the three people in succession for the presidency, all crowded together in the same hard to escape room.
I am not at all afraid of the dude in the hat with horns and raccoon tails, but am very afraid of the zip tie guys.

Yeah, you’re right about the horny guy…..BUT he does represent one dangerous aspect, the psychic and political need for a lot of white “conservative” (and others, the hapless ‘audience’ for the drama) people to downplay the whole thing, to point out the ridiculous futility of it all, how horny got nabbed quickly and some others of the spectacularly stooopid (like the lectern guy & the guy with his feet up on Pelosi’s desk), are in custody and the FBI is busy chasing down all the fools who had their bare faces hanging out. Making it easy to ignore the scarier ones…
Tho, in all fairness, Mr. Zip Ties has got his 15 minutes. Not as easy to identify, but…(has he been picked up yet?)

Myr, there were mulitple zip tie and guns guys, which is what makes it even scarier. No lone ziptier. Also, cops have easy access to zip ties, so there is that too

Worth adding: one zip tie guy was found drinking in the bar at the DC Marriot with friends and was interviewed by a blogger/internet sleuth who has been hunting these guys down. The three guys in your photo are mouth breather/inbred/fetal alcohol syndrome/Deliverence kinda guys. The guy in the Marriot bar was a squeaky clean cop/marine type, fit, handsome even, who could afford the DC Marriot. I feel kinda sorry for the inbred mouth breathers, but the guy in the Marriot terrified me.

VP Pence is refusing to invoke the 25th Amendment, in spite of the fact that the mob attempted quite literally to lynch him.
Sen. McConnell has announced he will support impeachment.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff have issued a letter to the military saying that Sen. Biden is the President-Elect.
and corporate world is stepping up to the plate in ways politicians aren’t. The Wall Street Journal called on Trump to resign. Forbes says that any company that hires anyone who’s worked in the White House press office during Trump and lied to everyone will face intense scrutiny from Forbes on any announcement they make because they won’t be trusted. Some companies have frozen political contributions and others have stated they will give no more contributions to anyone in Congress who voted against certifying the Electoral College results. Wall Street does Not like this shit. They’d already had it with Trump because of how badly he mangled Chinese trade (even though they initially agreed with tariffs, as did I, but they say he made things worse) and, more importantly, how badly he’s mangled COVID. They know damned well what real news is.
