Biden is Having a Hard Day’s Night
Biden’s first year thus far:
The Pandemic and Vaccination
The Economy
The Withdrawal from Afghanistan
The Southern Border
The Hurricane
The Legislation re:
Hard Infrastructure
Human Infrastructure
And
Voting Rights
Biden’s approval rating has gone from mid to high 50s to a polling average of about 47%….
This doesn’t bode well for Democrats and democracy…
The Democrats must roll up clear cut and decisive wins during the midterms or we run the very real risk of losing more than control of the legislative branch….
American democracy will remain in deep trouble until such time as we can get a handle on the Pandora’s Box of Trump and his followers and close it…
This is not Biden’s job to do alone…
Defending democracy is not one man’s job. Defending democracy is not a spectator sport.
Putting the burden on one man’s shoulders will give the Republican Party the opportunity to bring their three ring circus back to prominence and allow them to turn the government into a disastrous one-man show…
If Biden’s presidency fails it won’t be because he may lack a certain charismatic spark or that he might be wanting in political leadership skills.
It will because we failed as a nation to do all that we could to preserve, protect, and defend our democracy and the democratic principles upon which this country was founded and rests.
The simple fact here is that, if preservation of the American experiment in democratic self governance is our goal and our purpose, failure is not an option…

The weirdest thing about Biden is that he’s doing very very well and a whole lot of Americans don’t realize it. He has a clearer vision of what’s necessary than almost (or perhaps actually) any President I’ve seen.
Afghanistan is going to be a problem because there’s no good way to do this and he’ll be held responsible for whatever the flavors of bad turn out to be. He’d be damned in any direction.
But you’re right, he can’t do it alone. The press, as usual, won’t help, then they’ll wring their hands over the result of not helping.

I’m beyond angry at all of the assholes who are bitching and moaning about Biden. I think he is doing a superlative job in a very unenviable situation. I expect the republicans to be assholes, lying their heads off left and right but I am really and truly pissed off at “liberals” and other pseudo-democrats who are giving aid and comfort to the enemy by complaining about things that are beyond Biden’s control. I really think we have lost it collectively. I also believe – and I really mean this – that the Republican party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Putin.Inc. I think the repugnant ones should register as an agent of a foreign power because that’s what they are. Welcome back. I have noticed that our names have disappeared from the listings of the articles. Have to do something about that.

I agree. I do think it’s Putin’s doing.
Biden may be the first President I’ve seen who’s doing what I would do. He has a remarkably clear vision of what’s good for the country and he’s working unusually well within the political realities he has. In my current judgment he’s the best President we’ve had since Johnson.
I’ve become really disillusioned with the American Left. I’ve come to understand that they’re mostly unreasonable fools who have no concept of what it takes to accomplish anything. I recently read a great piece in the Washington Post by an Afghan explaining how we blew it by cultural insensitivity and insisting on isolation in country. It’s a common mistake. It’s the mistake Israel makes on the West Bank and it’s the mistake liberals make here. Too many of us think we don’t have to navigate the culture of the opposition.
