John Lewis, February 21, 1940 – July 17, 2020
“John Robert Lewis was an American politician and civil rights leader. He was the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district from 1987 until his death in 2020. He was the dean of the Georgia congressional delegation. The district he served includes the northern three-fourths of Atlanta. He was a member of the Democratic Party.”—–Wikipedia
John Lewis would urge us all to get into good trouble, because we can do better than this…

I knew he wasn’t well but this is a bit of a shock. He was one of my personal heroes and one of the reasons I started talking about conditions on Reservations both when I was a child and currently. People don’t know what they don’t know and not knowing the conditions is one of those things that harms Native Americans… and so I make “good trouble” by informing people. It’s what I can do.

Anyone here or anywhere who hasn’t gotten into “good trouble” somewhere along the line, isn’t fighting hard enough, or isn’t fighting at all….
