Renounce Cannibalism
I’m thinking about trying to get my neighbors to renounce cannibalism. Yes, that is accurate. I am thinking about…the effort to get them to renounce cannibalism. To be fair, cannibalism is pretty gross. I don’t think people should eat other people, and I think the vast majority of people agree. And, also, to be fair, I don’t think my neighbors are cannibals, but, that is beside the point. I don’t think it would cost them anything to actually renounce cannibalism, and to my knowledge, they never have renounced cannibalism.
When you think about renouncing cannibalism, I can’t believe they have not renounced it already. I’d start with the guy just to the South of me. Neighbor, do you renounce cannibalism? The only way he can renounce it is to say, I renounce cannibalism. Again, I am a little shocked that he has not explicitly done so already, but things will be greatly improved once he does. I assume he will. Why wouldn’t he, right? And, once he does…
Once…he does…
Once he does we will have one more dude ON RECORD saying that he is not a cannibal. So…there’s that.

You mean as opposed to telling cannibals to stand back and stand by?

I mean, if we could get them to renounce cannibalism, do they get some sort of honor? It seems a rather low bar, you know? The effort to get them to renounce is not cost effective. I think the best course of action is to note that they are cannibals…and act accordingly.

The vast majority of them will renounce cannibalism. It’s just that they’ve got cans of Soylent Green in the pantry.

Suppose the neighbor responded as follows:
“There’s nothing to renounce.
Cannibalism is a hoax perpetrated and perpetuated by people who don’t eat meat.”

Excellent question. If the neighbor responded like that, you would have the same result with less invested. He would not have earned, in the views of some, the praise for having done something. The best result is the knowledge of the practice, and not how the practitioner feels about the practice.

They would tell you that you were practicing carniwarfare. Or maybe carivorefare. I can’t decide.

Crap. “Carnivorefare.” Left out the N

Hey Bitey, have you renounced cannibalism?
10/02/2020 @ 5:42 pm
When people ask me if I like kids, I usually say, I love kids. They’re delicious.

Jonna, you realize that this is not about cannibalism, right?
10/02/2020 @ 11:12 pm
Don’t insult my friends.
It’s actually about a jazz sax fixation. The term is actually Cannonballism.

Bitey – pretty sure I do but now that you asked I wouldn’t admit if I didn’t.

So…you want to know if I am a cannibal? I’m not. My post doesn’t accuse or imply that anyone is a cannibal. No one deserves that.
