Where is accountability for something this big?

The American COVID death toll has passed a million people. Most of you can do arithmetic this basic in your head. The toll has risen considerably since this testimony but there’s no reason for the percentage to change. Those who didn’t believe in masks during the Trump administration don’t now. So…
As of now she’s talking about between 300,000 and 400,000 American deaths. We’re talking about way more than one hundred deaths for every death on 9/11.
We could be talking about one hundred thousand deaths for every American killed in Benghazi.
Why isn’t former President Trump being held accountable for this? Why did no one in the press notice this? They reported it. What did they think it meant?
Let’s say Dr. Birx is off. Let’s say the White House stance is only responsible for half that, 150,000 – 200,000 deaths. These numbers are still gigantic.
Who is speaking for them? They got sick, they died, that’s it? They were advised by the President not to take preventative measures that we knew were effective for no good reason at all.
Screw shooting someone in Times Square and getting away with it. This isn’t “someone.”
How can anyone trust someone to safeguard Americans who casually allowed three hundred thousand to four hundred thousand Americans to die? For Nothing?
How can anyone covering national politics miss this? This is one of the biggest smoking guns in American history.
I don’t blame Mitch McConnell. He’d let that many Americans die for votes. Well, in fact, he did.
But the Washington Press Corps?
I’ve said for a long time that I’d rather have sportscasters report on politics than political reporters because political reporters only keep score while every sportscaster I’ve ever heard worries first and foremost about the integrity of the game. The political game is way more important but scorekeeping led to Trump’s victory in 2016. Now it’s letting him get away with letting well over a quarter of a million Americans die.
I can’t even figure out who I want to kill most.

The American Press Corps aren’t umpires…
Though, in many respects, they should be.
If they were, they’d have thrown Trump out of the political ‘game’ before he came up to the plate for lying and cheating his way into the ‘ big leagues”…
But rather than call him out and disqualifying him from the very beginning, they turned a blind eye to his racism, bigotry, misogyny, ignorance, and incompetence, and gave him a ‘walk’ because his candidacy was good for circulation and ratings…
Trump never learned to play by the rules because he got away with not being required to do so for his entire life…
He virtually announced that he wasn’t going to ‘play by the rules’. When he was anointed as the “Great White Hope” in the American arena of high stakes, prime time politics, he said “I alone can fix it…” and that he, would “Make America Great Again”…
The media establishment scoffed and chuckled at the foreboding glimpses and hints at Trumps mindset and temperament…
At the outset of his first bid for the White House, he stated, unequivocally, that if he lost the election, it would be due to unsportsmanlike fraud and cheating by the Democrats….
He openly stated that was fully prepared to disavow the outcome and declare victory regardless of the electoral ‘score’….
The handwriting was on the wall and the mainstream media didn’t report it for what it was…
Now, in the wake of more than a million COVID19 deaths, an antidemocratic insurrection, a tainted and flawed federal judiciary including the Supreme Court, and a populace so deeply divided that the American political process won’t ever return to normalcy, the American Press Corps, AKA the mainstream media, continues to be hesitant in calling the ‘game’ honestly, fairly, and accurately even as the “integrity” of the American ‘political game’ is being called into question and doubt as it is deeply imperiled and existentially threatened by a so-called ‘player’ who shouldn’t have been permitted to be in the game to begin with…

That’’s it, though it’s been going on for longer than Trump. The biggest non-Trump recent example was how easy the press (and Pres. Obama) went on McConnell for refusing to consider the Garland Supreme Court nomination.
